The solar power generation system consists of a solar panel array, a solar controller, and a storage battery (bank). If the output power is AC 220V or 110V, an inverter also needs to be configured. The functions of each part are as follows:
Solar Panel: The solar panel is the core and most valuable part of the solar power generation system. It converts solar energy into electrical energy, which can be stored in the storage battery or used to drive loads. The quality and cost of the solar panel directly determine those of the entire system.
Solar Controller: It controls the working state of the entire system and protects the storage battery from overcharging and over-discharging. In areas with large temperature differences, a qualified controller has a temperature compensation function. Additional functions such as light-controlled switches and time-controlled switches should be optional for the controller.
Storage Battery: It is generally used to store electricity. There are usually 12V and 24V types. In small systems, nickel-hydrogen batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, or lithium batteries can also be used. Its role is to store the electricity generated by the solar panel during daylight hours and release it when needed.
Inverter: In many cases, AC 220V or AC 110V power supplies are required. Since the direct output of solar energy is generally DC 12V, DC 24V, or DC 48V, a DC-AC inverter is needed to convert the DC power generated by the solar power generation system into AC power to supply electrical appliances that require AC 220V. In some scenarios, when multiple voltage loads need to be used, a DC-DC converter is also used, such as converting 24VDC power into 5VDC power (note: this is not simply a voltage reduction).
Grid-Connected Solar Power Generation System
The grid-connected solar power generation system consists of solar cell modules, grid-connected inverters, distribution cabinets, etc. The system converts solar energy into electrical energy to generate current, and then sends the electrical energy to the grid through connectors and grid-connected inverters, and recovers it when needed. Grid-connected power generation has become one of the effective ways to utilize solar energy on a large scale, and will bring inestimable social benefits in reducing pollution, saving energy, and protecting the environment.
